Aditya Roy Kapur is enjoying Instagram, says Twitter isn’t happening anytime soon
Actor Aditya Roy Kapur says that he’s finding Instagram interesting. He adds that he joined social media to interact with his fans, who have always been supportive.
Kunaal Roy Kapur had once joked about how he and brother Aditya Roy Kapur sweat it out at the gym, yet when they step out it’s only the latter who gets papped. Mention this to Aditya and the actor laughs saying, “Really? But I want to know when does he (Kunaal) go to the gym? I don’t know if he goes. He needs to go to the gym first. There are things that he enjoyed, and I didn’t get the opportunity. So I think you need to make do of what you have.”

Aditya, who has been part of films such as Aashiqui 2 (2013) and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013), recently made news for finally joining Instagram, after a lot of persuading from friends, family and even his fellow gym goers. He has never been excited about being on social media but decided to give it a try only when two girls in his gym coaxed him. And, he isn’t complaining.
”There are so many people who welcomed me on Instagram. Someone wrote ‘Welcome to hell’, and I was like ‘What do you mean? You only wanted me to come here’. It seems a lot of people share a love-hate relationship with this platform,” he says sounding amused at the response.
Is Twitter next in pipeline? “Let me get used to Instagram first. I’m still taking lessons on that. I didn’t even have a Facebook account for the longest time. I don’t know if I have so much to say [to be] on Twitter. I’d rather go slow. But yes, I’m finding Instagram interesting,” adds Aditya.
He speaks unlike other actors for who social media has become an inseparable part of their lives and a medium to directly connect with the fans. he says he didn’t miss out on what’s happening on social media in all these years. “Acting and being part of social media are two different things. It has just become more important in the last few years, more so for public figures. I think it’s lovely as you get to reach to your fans. That actually was the biggest reason for me to join. I feel this is a way of thanking my fans,” says the actor.
However, Aditya is quick to add that being on social media doesn’t mean he would become “an impulsive wreck” and remain stuck to his phone. “We mindlessly check our phones a lot, something that many people are guilty of. I reach out for my phone and I’m like ‘Why have I picked up my phone right now?’. So, it’s important to be able to kind cut off as well,” he signs off.
