Odisha man kills father after argument over Rs 5 for liquor: Police

The man and his father had an argument when they fell short of Rs 5 at a liquor vend in Odisha. Babula then dragged and pushed his father into a nearby well.

A 60-year-old man in Ganjam district was pushed to death by his son after arguments between them over payment of Rs 5 for liquor turned violent, police said.

Abhiram Das (60), a priest in Siddhapur village of Soroda block in Ganjam, on Tuesday night had gone to a liquor vend in the village with his son Babula when they fell short of Rs 5. The father and son then started blaming each other for the shortfall following which Babula allegedly dragged and pushed his father into a nearby well.

When Abhiram did not come to the temple the following day, villagers grew suspicious and informed the police. The police arrested Babula and later recovered his father’s body from the well.
