Mumbai gangster’s son, who protected underworld dons, found dead on rail tracks
Gitesh Khopade was the son of Chandrakant Khopade, the leader of Golden Gang, which operated out of Sun Mill compound at Lower Parel.
The 32-year-old son of an underworld don was found dead on the tracks at Sewri railway station on Monday.
Gitesh Khopade was the son of Chandrakant Khopade, the leader of Golden Gang, which operated out of Sun Mill compound at Lower Parel. The gang was known to protect other underworld dons such as Haji Mastan and Varadrajan Mudaliyar.
The police said Gitesh’s body was found on the tracks around 10.30am.
They said based on circumstantial evidence, it is possible Gitesh was killed and his body was dumped on the tracks. Central GRP registered an accidental death case, but they are not ruling out murder as yet.
According to the government railway police, Gitesh lived in Virar and owned a few shops at Lower Parel on which he earned rent.
Crime branch officials said Gitesh was not close to his father and it is not known if he was part of Golden Gang.
In the early age of underworld in Mumbai man power and protection men were provided to Haji mastan and Varadrajan Mudaliyar by the Golden Gang which was run by Chandrakant Alias babya Khopade.
